Acid rain is an example of a major transboundary pollution event where sulpher dioxide mixes with water and then later on falls as acid rain. This chemical comes mainly from coal powered power plants. This acid rain can have many consequences for people, buildings, wildlife, agriculture etc.
Europe is an example where acid rain is a major problem as it not only affects one country but also all other surrounding countries. The image below shows a map of global acid rain:
It shows a very large concentration of transboundary pollution in Europe where a very large number of countries are affected. From the 1980s, the UK was a major producer of pollution that caused acid rain. Winds have then blown the acid rain and it has come to affect the surrounding European countries.
